where we are

The Scottish Executive has provided £100,000 to support school anti-sectarian projects which seek to raise awareness and encourage better mutual understanding.

Bids were received from a total of 22 different Education Authorities across Scotland.  The winning initiatives will raise awareness of sectarianism, improve pupils' understanding of the issues and have a positive impact on pupil attitudes. The projects will run between November 2006 and March 2007.

In December, we will publish Building Friendships and Strengthening Communities – A Guide to Twinning between Denominational and Non-Denominational Schools.  This publication is aimed at education professionals who are thinking about becoming involved in twinning activities.  It includes details of current twinning activities, good practice examples and suggestions on how schools can start twinning arrangements.
