Calling full time on Sectarianism was launched at the Reconvened Sectarianism Summit on 12 December 2006 and sets out the key direction of for tackling sectarianism in football.
The strategy aims to:
- Continue to give out a clear message that sectarianism in all its forms will be tackled
- Build on the great progress we have made in tackling some of the unacceptable sectarian behaviour. The implementation of the Football Banning Orders are helping authorities ban sectarian louts from games and meeting places throughout the country. Our leading clubs – notably but not exclusively the Old Firm – have taken unprecedented steps to rid their grounds and support of religious songs and chants
- Ensure that the game is fit for families of all races, colours and creeds to attend and enjoy. The strategy includes further sanctions that could be applied within football to tackle problem individuals
- Shaping attitudes, creating an environment, and developing a culture in which sectarianism simply has no place. It’s about growing future generations who choose to have no truck with the remnants of sectarian baggage left over from our recent and past history
- Continue the success in curbing sectarianism and matching with effective ways of growing a healthy modern Scotland in which tolerance and respect flourish. A grass roots approach in football – and in life
